— The Spirit of this Guide —
“This guide is a great companion to your own great intuition,,
How I like to run the South Coast — and how you can make it yours
So inside is a suggested South Coast Google map, plus timetable, plus suggestions on all food options and also extra stops so that you can simply adapt your day entirely to your own pace and what interests your personally.
Go slow where it moves you. Linger. Skip what doesn't call to you.
I would say that you get here at least 90% of everything there is generally to see and do on the South Coast, is right here. This guide gives you the everything you need to run this like a pro, like how we the tour operators run this day — now with your own intuition on what extras to visit (see the Google map inside) and how long you want to stay at each stop do the rest. A great day on the South Coast isn't one that hits every stop. It's a day that feels like it was made for you. So here is simply how a professional guide would do it and you adapt to you.
All recommendations in all guides are based solely on my personal experience. My only wish is that your journey feels personal and extraordinary to you in its own way.

— From your Guide
Two suggestions that tend to make the day be and feel different
An early start opens the South Coast in a completely different way
The first hour at Seljalandsfoss — before the coaches arrive — is mist, silence, and the falls almost entirely to yourself. If that sounds like your kind of morning, the guide tells you exactly when to leave and why it's worth it.
Here’s an insider tip: want a black sand beach spot just for you?
This spot is at another place spot than the “known” black sand beach — this spot is here … is close to Seljalandsfoss - just make sure to park and walk there, this is not even in the pdf - just here free for you - even if you have not bought this yet. The top qr-code is where you park … and the lower qr-code is for where you could walk … on that empty black sand beach
+ more suggestions and local context inside the guide — all framed around your own pace and preferences

+ Reynisfjara — A note worth reading
Reynisfjara is one of the most photographed beaches in the world for good reason. It's also a beach where the ocean behaves differently than most people expect. The guide includes calm, clear information about how to enjoy it fully and comfortably — the way an experienced guide would explain it to a friend.
Good awareness makes the experience better, not smaller.
FAQs
Do I need a 4WD for this route?
No. Route 1 is fully paved and accessible year-round with a regular 2WD in summer. 4WD is recommended November–March when conditions can be icy.
How much of the day can I adapt to my own pace?
Completely. The guide gives you a suggested flow — you decide how long you stay at each stop, what to include, and what to leave for another time. There's no right or wrong version of this day, but shortest version that have done is to start at 09:00 and be back in Reykjavik at 17:30
Can I do the DC-3 Airplane Wreck walk?
Yes — it's a flat, easy walk of 3.6 km each way. It adds up to two hours to your day. The guide helps you decide early whether it fits — either way is a good choice.
Are puffins guaranteed at Dyrhólaey?
Puffins are present late April to August — June and July are peak. The upper road occasionally closes briefly during nesting; signs at the entrance will let you know.
Do I get updates for free if things change?
Yes. Lifetime access - but download it within 24 hrs — if anything on this route changes, you receive the updated version automatically at no cost.
