Local knowledge.
Real Iceland.
Shared with you.
I’m Bijo. I’m an Icelandic guide and the founder of Iceland by Guide. For more than 15 years I’ve been working with travellers in Iceland — on the road, in changing weather, and across very different kinds of journeys.
Today I put that experience into private tours, self-drive itineraries and maps, so you can use the same local thinking whether I’m sitting beside you in the vehicle or you’re exploring Iceland completely on your own.
Why travel with me?
Local, not generic
Routes and recommendations come from actually travelling, guiding and working around Iceland.
Personal & flexible
Your pace, interests and priorities matter more than following a rigid checklist.
Real field experience
Roads, weather, timing, logistics and the small decisions that make a journey work.
Independent advice
I want the recommendation to make your journey better — not simply to generate a commission.
One knowledge system
The same thinking behind my private tours also powers my self-drive maps and itineraries.
Iceland has been my classroom.
I originally trained as an engineer, but Iceland kept pulling me toward people, travel and the outdoors. Guiding became the place where those things came together: structure and logistics on one side, stories, nature and human connection on the other.
Over the years I have worked with very different travellers — individuals, couples, families and groups — in summer and winter, on simple day trips and longer journeys. That experience is the foundation of Iceland by Guide.
The business is no longer only about physically guiding someone around Iceland. I’m taking the knowledge accumulated on the road and turning it into routes, maps and practical travel intelligence that more people can use independently.
Not stock photography. Real people. Real days.
Two ways to travel with Iceland by Guide.
Self-Drive Itineraries
Route planning, PDF guides and Google Maps built from the same Iceland knowledge I use professionally.

Explore Private Tours →I like travel that leaves room to notice where you are. That means good preparation, honest information, flexibility when conditions change, respect for local communities and nature, and enough space in the day that Iceland does not become another checklist.
